Michael lives in a little cubby house on a creek bank in a pocket of rainforest. Many animals, birds & insects live there also including a little Echidna in a tree hole that Lela & Michael called Spikey. Spikey comes out some nights ant hunting, lifting up all the pavers to get to his juicy little ants. Michael wanted to create an album of songs for Australian families to share about the animals & creatures who live where he is: Spikey & Friends- In My Backyard.
Spikey the echidna sings the kids through meetings with all his bush land friends and through them the kids learn simple lessons about the animal's biology's and habits. With great respect but a great sense of fun, the kids meet Old Man Bray, an elder of the Bundjalung people, who shows them around the country his people have looked after for millennia.
Double album - CD1 night time CD2 day time Peaceful Stars, Days & Dreams, is a children's album recorded in Mumbai, India with under-privileged rural children. Its a double CD one an upbeat CD for daytime dance offs & a second CD that sets the scene for sweet dreams at night time.
About Michael Turner
Michael Turner is an ARIA award-winning musician. He is a writer, singer, guitarist, musical director & music educator. Michael has conducted workshops for teachers of The Learning Space Foundation & taught English through songs to tribal children in Maharashtra, India. He was the musical director of the prestigious Ethnic Business Awards in 2007 that was broadcast to 45 countries worldwide.
Michael teaches music at schools & runs a music program at the Namatjira Healing Centre for Indigenous men.
